9th Algarve Golf Challenge – Three Days Across Three Exceptional Courses
The 9th Edition of the Algarve Golf Challenge returns from 27 to 29 November 2026, bringing together amateur golfers for three days of competition across three of the Algarve’s most prestigious courses.
This year’s tournament takes players from the Eastern Algarve to the heart of Quinta do Lago, with rounds at Monte Rei North, Quinta do Lago North and Quinta do Lago Laranjal. Three distinctive courses, three different challenges and an opportunity to experience some of the finest golf Portugal has to offer.
Three Days, Three World-Class Courses
The competition begins on Friday, 27 November, before continuing through the weekend and concluding on Sunday, 29 November 2026.
Each round offers its own character and strategic demands.
Monte Rei North is the acclaimed Jack Nicklaus Signature design set among the rolling countryside of the Eastern Algarve. Generous fairways are balanced by carefully positioned bunkers, water hazards and large, fast greens, creating a course where thoughtful shot selection and an accurate short game are rewarded. Its elevated setting also provides impressive views across the surrounding landscape towards the Atlantic.
At Quinta do Lago North, players encounter a course extensively redesigned by Beau Welling in collaboration with former Ryder Cup captain Paul McGinley. The renovation transformed its greens, tees, bunkers and drainage while reinforcing the strategic nature of the layout. Accuracy, course management and intelligent positioning are essential throughout the round.
Quinta do Lago Laranjal provides another contrasting experience. Originally an orange grove, the course opened in 2009 and is characterised by wide fairways, large greens and a flowing layout that combines opportunities for attacking golf with demanding hazards. Water comes prominently into play on several holes, while its long par 3s and memorable par 5s provide a fitting challenge for the competition.
A Weekend of Competitive Golf in the Algarve
More than simply three tournament rounds, the 9th edition offers amateur golfers the opportunity to experience different sides of Algarve golf within a single weekend.
From the refined atmosphere and secluded landscape of Monte Rei to the established golf destination of Quinta do Lago, competitors will play courses recognised for their quality, conditioning and distinctive designs.
Whether returning to the tournament or participating for the first time, players can expect an enjoyable yet competitive three-day experience in one of Europe’s leading golf destinations.
